If you’ve been following our Havok Season 12: Multiversal contest, you know the drill. Each month, authors submit stories based on a character profile. Each month, our Editor in Chief, Andrew Winch, confers with our editorial teams and picks a winner for each genre we publish: Mystery Monday, Techno Tuesday (sci-fi), Wacky Wednesday, Thriller Thursday, and Fantasy Friday. ONE of these five winners is selected by the creator of the character to be the “Maker’s Favorite”!
So let’s meet the maker of last month’s character.
March’s Featured Character: Spark Spaulding
The creator of Spark Spaulding has an honored place in our hearts, because Havok was his brainchild long before we launched our rebirth in 2019. That’s right–Havok Publishing was once Havok Magazine, the speculative fiction imprint of Splickety Publishing’s magazine empire. Okay, fine, it wasn’t an empire, but Splickety published some mighty fine flash fiction and Ben Wolf gave us the solid foundation upon which to launch a re-imagined version of Havok.
Ben Wolf has now published 20+ sci-fi, fantasy, and writing books, including an award-winning children’s book and an award-winning novel. He travels the world (okay, mostly the mid-western United States) selling these book treasures at conventions and other retail events, making fans of pretty much everyone who stops to ask about the huge book with the bullet holes in it. No, really! I’ve seen it myself. If you see him in the wild sometime, ask him about it. His recent Kickstarter, Winterspell, funded at 10x its goal amount, and he’s got a fun graphic novel in the works.
