When Havok launched in January of 2019, it was the rebirth of a formerly print-based quarterly magazine. Andrew Winch, Lisa Godfrees, and Teddi Deppner forged the new identity of Havok with the mission to mentor editors and writers (graphic designers, too) with help from that early team who caught the vision. Editors Andra Marquardt, Lauren Hildebrand, and Ronnell Kay Gibson have been with us from the start, as well as our operations director Kat Vinson. For the first five years, our flash fiction contests lasted six months each. That’s a long time to wait to find out whether your story has won!
Now in 2024, we celebrate winning stories every month. Today we’re pleased to announce the winners of last month’s Remember April flash fiction contest!
The five winners below represent the top story from each of our five genres: Mystery Monday, Techno Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Thriller Thursday, and Fantasy Friday. These winning tales will be collected in our Remember When anthology (coming out in spring 2025).
