We are thrilled to announce the winners of Havok’s August flash fiction contest! This year our contests revolve around character prompts. Every story during the month of August featured the same character — Alice (the classic character by Lewis Carroll) — but our authors got to choose the genre, the situation, and write the character through the lens of their own imagination — “Multiversal” style!
Havok publishes flash fiction in five genres, one for each day of the work week: Mystery Monday, Techno Tuesday (sci-fi), Wacky Wednesday, Thriller Thursday, and Fantasy Friday. Only one of those five winners was selected by our mascot, Phenny Phoenix, as “Phenny’s Favorite”!
So let’s meet the character and her creator…
July’s Featured Character: Alice
We included a few classic characters that are now in the public domain to give our author base a chance to put their spin on a well-known character. Alice, by Lewis Carroll, seemed a perfect choice. She already went to the “alternate dimension” of Wonderland in her original books, so turning her into a character that spans the multiverse was a natural move.
